Game play: Montessori and Vygotsky

march

For theories of play, our class used role play and game play to explain different theories of play in early childhood education. Their activities made the lesson more interesting and easier to understand. Instead of only reading from slides, they involved the class through interaction and teamwork.

I particularly understood Vygotsky’s theory during the role play activity, done by meshy wangle and group,
because it showed how children learn through social interaction and guidance from others. The game activity also connected well with Piaget’s theory since it demonstrated how children learn by exploring and actively participating. Through these activities, I realised that play is not just entertainment but an important way for children to develop thinking, communication, and social skills.

I also connected this to Montessori’s idea that children learn best through hands-on experiences and active participation. Watching my classmates use creative teaching methods helped me understand how play-based learning can make education more engaging and meaningful.

Overall, the presentation helped me understand the importance of play in child development, and I enjoyed learning through interactive activities rather than only listening to explanations.
